Wholesale nurseries and growers sell to landscapers and sometimes to the public at volume prices; tree nurseries sell balled-and-burlapped and container trees and can deliver and plant large specimens. Specialty growers focus on bonsai, cactus and succulents, orchids or native plants, and hydroponics stores sell lights, nutrients and systems for growing indoors.

If you are a collector of Japanese Maples and want to treat yourself, order from Maplestone. Every tree I’ve ordered has been impressive from an artistic and from a health standpoint. Order, you won’t be sorry. Just a fantastic business it’s been a pleasure to purchase from.

If you are looking for top-tier Japanese Maples, Maplestone Ornamentals is hands-down the best in the business. It’s really not even close. Micah runs a fantastic, small, family-owned business that clearly prioritizes quality over quantity. The secret is definitely out, so you have to be quick to nab the more in-demand trees during releases—but it is worth every bit of the effort. When you buy a 1-gallon tree from Micah, the size, health, and root system you receive easily rival a 3-gallon tree from almost any other company. You are truly getting incredible value and a beautiful, healthy cultivar every single time. I couldn't recommend them more highly!

Micah aka the "Maple Wizard" has been very helpful with tool selection, care for my maples, and quick responses via email. The maples I have recieved are the gold standard. Size is bigger then most, color is amazing, good root developement that I see when repotting into my mix. You get what you pay for at maplestone for sure. Thank you for the amazing trees Micah!

If you collect Japanese maples seriously, Maplestone Ornamentals is the real deal. Micah's cultivar selection goes well beyond the usual, the grafts look good, and the trees arrive in great shape and at a generous size. They also do in-person visits by appointment, and Micah is great to talk to, generous with his knowledge, and clearly loves what he grows.
